Dean Eggleston is a singer-songwriter based in Christchurch, New Zealand.

For years he wrote songs about people, without realising there was a deeper story behind them. He took some of those songs to Nashville, recording with top session musicians and producer Greg Haver, whose credits include Manic Street Preachers and Super Furry Animals.

Somewhere along the way he realised the characters in his songs belonged to the same place. That place became Harlow, a fading mining town, and the songs became The Miscasts, an original musical built entirely around his music. Dean is now working to bring The Miscasts to the stage.

The latest part of that story is The Miscasts: Date Night, a comedy with real songs. It’s a big mix up. He’s looking for an actress. She’s looking for a man. And just who’s catfishing who? Set at one table in a bar, it’s a night of songs, a lot of wine, and a slow reveal of who is fooling who.

Dean is currently looking for an actress to play Marjorie in Date Night. If that could be you, get in touch.
